Steps, miles, sleep, and fuel — tracking 40+ days on the road with a Fitbit and a Google Sheet.
I kept track of a few different stats throughout the trip. My Fitbit tracked steps, walking miles, calories burned, and sleep duration, while I manually tracked driving distance and fuel burned by entering values into a Google Sheet whenever I got gas.
To me the trip is split into a few distinct sections: a long backpacking trip to start with no driving, then road-tripping every day and making frequent stops, followed by a long period of no driving while being sedentary in Albuquerque and Austin. Then the final stage is returning home at a pretty breakneck pace with a short stop in San Jose.
