Days 14–18: Albuquerque
New Mexican food, old friends, and a surprise at Angel's Peak campground.
Before getting to Albuquerque I spent the night at Angel’s Peak campground — initially because it was free and off the highway. But in the morning I woke up in the light and saw that it was actually very pretty: some nice painted hills and eroded valleys.
I didn’t take many pictures in Albuquerque — but I did eat a lot of New Mexican food. My first stop was at Mary and Tito’s for a stuffed sopaipilla and a slice of Mexican wedding cake. Then I was off to visit with friends from high school. Also: root beer from Il Vicino.
